About Us

Ackerman Aquatics started in Orlando, Fl and has re-opened in Huntsville, TX. We have since taught hundreds of children and adults the importance of water safety while still learning the fundamentals of the sport and of course, having FUN!

Owner and Head Instructor Ashten Ackerman

Ackerman Aquatics was founded by Ashten Ackerman in 2005. Ashten began swimming competitively at the age of 10. She swam through high school and began teaching swim lessons through the YMCA and for her swim team's youth groups.

Upon graduation Ashten earned a scholarship to swim at Rice University in Houston, TX. During her tenure at Rice she continued to teach swim lessons and work with Rice Aquatics Club Team; as well as a summer with Swim America and the Gator Swim Club at the University of Florida. Ashten moved to Durham, NC after graduating from Rice with a degree in Sport Management. While in North Carolina, she was an Assistant Coach for the Duke Blue Devils Men's and Women's Swim team as well as a Coach for Duke Aquatics Club Team.

Ashten moved back to Orlando in 2011 to be an Aquatics Director at the Central Florida YMCA. While there she oversaw 5 pools, 20 swim instructors, and created the Winter Park Pirates Club Team.

With over 10 years of aquatics background, Ashten has seen former students go on to make their high school teams and even break school records. "There is nothing more rewarding than seeing someone overcome their fear of the water or helping someone achieve their goals."
